Help: Voice

Voice lets you dictate into Thoughts and into a chat with your AI, and run them by saying commands. Tap 🎙 once: it stays on, red and pulsing, until you tap it again or say ok stop.

How it works

  • Your words stream into the box as you speak, grey until the browser is sure of them.
  • Commands start with "ok" and a command from the list; an "ok" before anything else stays as text: "…the toast never shows ok new bug the drafts page is slow ok save".
  • A small chip shows each command it heard, so you can see what it did.
  • To say "ok" before a command word, say it twice: ok ok types "ok".
  • It also hears okay and o k as ok (the commands are in Settings, voice.commands, where you can add your own).

In Thoughts

Say It does
ok new thought ends the thought so far and starts a new one
ok new bug · ok new feature · ok new idea · ok new note the same, the new thought tagged #bug, #feature, #idea or #note
ok tag X tags the current thought #X
ok to designer (or any role) addresses the thought, as @designer
ok send it sends the current thought to who it's addressed to
ok save · ok save it saves everything in the box, one thought per ok new…, and keeps listening
ok cancel drops what's in the box, unsaved
ok stop stops listening

Which ones reach your streak: a thought tagged #bug, #feature or #idea goes into your streak, ready to send to your designer. A #note, or a plain ok new thought, stays in your locker; promote it with ^^ if you want it sent.

In a chat

Start a chat from the chat button's + New (or a role on the Agents page), then tap 🎙.

Say It does
ok send sends what you said (a pause of 2 s also sends, see Settings)
ok mind meld on · ok meld on your AI may take this tab to what it's working on ([[Help:ESP
ok mind meld off · ok meld off stops that
ok done ends the chat; your AI writes a short summary and goes back to its work
ok stop stops listening; the chat stays open

Good to know

  • Which browsers: Chrome, Edge and Safari, on computers, iPad and Android. Firefox doesn't offer it yet.
  • Where your voice goes: the browser turns speech into text with its maker's service (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari); d2 only receives the text.
  • The first time, the browser asks to use the microphone; allow it for this site.
  • It stops by itself after 20 seconds without speech, or when the tab sleeps; tap 🎙 to start again.
  • Commands are in English for now.
